Transparent Material by Antoni Karwowski and BBB Johannes Deimling

SHAMROCK - TRANSPARENT MATERIAL
by BBB Johannes Deimling
Agierte Bilder (living images), Collage with four images:
Image 1. I am dressed in a white shirt and bright trowsers, standing in front of a white wall. At the wall are stucking silver knifes. With my hands I am rubbing three times strongly my eyes. Out of a white bowl I am pouring noodle letters on my eyes. The silver knifes I am taping around my head.
Image 2. I am climbing with my feets into a bucket full of water. I can hardly stand in it and pouring red hot chilli into the water. In this position I am trying to glue crisp bread on the wall,
a kind of barn with cows and things. But its getting nowhere. All the times parts of the bread or the toys are falling down.
Image 3. I’m laying down and put slices of sausage on my face. Wrapping my whole head with clingfoil and stand up. I open my shirt, and scretch with two forks a red sun around the bellybutton on my skin. I open the foil where my mouth is and taking slowly the meat out.
Image 4. I am standing in front of a white wall with a bouquet of red roses. At first I am stroking softly the ptelas on the wall, than increasing this action until I am smashing the red roses against the wall

BBB Johannes Deimling (Germany, 1969) uses everyday objects to create a living image (agierte Bilder) reflecting a society full of contradictions, sentimentality, stupidity, creativity and cooperation. Finding ideas and suggestions from the banality of daily life, Deimling transforms topics such as patience, will, war, religion and transportation into physical and poectical images. The artist's head is often a focus in the work, as an integral part of a living sculpture or as material in a performance. Since 1988, BBB Johannes Deimling has worked as an artist in the fields of performance art video, installation, drawing and music. His work has been presented at events and festivals in Europe, Israel, Canada, Southamerica and Cuba, a.o. at the ICA, London, Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, Stadtgalerie Bern, art Frankfurt, Center for contemporary art, Tel Aviv, Cornerhouse Gallery, Manchester, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein and as well on serveral international Performance Art Festivals like Interakcje, Poland, 7a11d, Canada, Performance Art Conference … . Since 1998, Deimling has devoted much of his practice to lecturing on performance art at various academic institutions including: F+F (Switzerland) since 1998 and the Academy of Arts in Tallinn, Estonia, The Akademi for Szene Kunst in Fredrikstad, Norway. 2000 he founded PAS-Performance Art Studies, a workshop project for international participants realised in Canada, Germany, Israel, France, Czech Republic, ...

VANILLA LINE - TRANSPARENT MATERIAL
by Antoni Karwowski
I am interested in areas / situations, showing the human condition reduced to elementary / universal value. I try to touch the archetypes. The definition of "Transparent Material”: The measure of artistic expression, not hiding by its form the phenomenon, which it determines, which it refers. Characteristic of the "TM" is a minimalism, reducing its visual form. Part 1: I used 10 hospital sheets – traces of body biologism, resignation, hope, dreams, behavior of human existence. Vanilla Oil - (transparent material) the smell of vanilla that generates in the imagination of the viewer image of domestic warmth, celebrated holidays, candy, childhood, carefree. Circled by mouth/ water /circle on the floor (in part 2 – black circle), personal territory, the place of personal reflection. Part 2:
Completed on the artefacts / afterfacts BBB Johannes Deimling’s performance. A retrospective journey to stored in memory images from childhood, exploration of memory. In this part I enriched my workshop of the material traces after J. Deimling’s performance.

I observe the process of permanent deconstruction of memory by the reality around me.
In this context, I put questions about identity.
The relationship between past and present aspects of looking for the universal order.
Performance, enables me to fascinating "game" between the world of reality and remembered.
Capture a sense of time and "influence" on the course of past events, modify them, build new
configurations and their transfer to the real space.
